CHORALFEST 2012
Choralfest 2012 will be held on August 4-5, 2012 at the Hawaii Betsuin, 1727 Pali Highway, Honolulu, Hawaii. It is open to singers from temples in Hawaii and, for the first time, to singers from temples in the Buddhist Churches of America (BCA). Registration must be turned in by April 1, 2012. Because of limited space, the first fifty (50) registrants only from the BCA will be accepted.
Choralfest brings together singers to celebrate the Dharma as a massed choir. Participants rehearse Buddhist choral pieces at a workshop on Saturday and sing them at a special music service on Sunday. The 2-day event is led by prominent local choral conductor Nola Nahulu. Singers receive a program booklet with music score and practice CD before the event.
Please see your temple office for registration information. For more details, please contact Rev. Toshiyuki Umitani, Executive Assistant to the Bishop, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii, at (808) 522-9200, or at hqs@honpahi.org. BCA members are asked to first contact Rev. Michael Endo in the Buddhist Churches of America Bishop’s Office at (415) 776-5600 or at shakuensho@aol.com.
